Email Verification with One-Time Password for Creating New Candidate Accounts

By:  HR Strategies Consulting’s SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Expert

A new security feature has been added to the candidate account creation process.  Previously, when an external candidate created a new account from the careers site, they would choose their own password.  With the new security feature enabled on January 11, 2021, an additional validation step has been added.  Now during the new account creation process, an email with a one-time password (OTP) is sent to the email address provided by the candidate.  The candidate must enter the OTP on the Create Account page to be able to complete the account creation process.

Why Has This Feature Been Enabled?

This additional security feature helps prevent the exposure of email addresses to potential attackers.

The new one-time password feature was pushed to ALL customers.  There is an opt-out option available under “Manage Recruiting Settings”.

Step 1:  External candidate creates an account on the career site

Step 2:  Candidate receives email with one-time passcode

Step 3:  Candidate enters passcode received and continues account creation

If a customer does not want this new security feature, they have the ability to opt-out by going to:
Manage Recruiting Settings, choose Careers Site, and finally selecting Disable One-Time Password for Email Verification during Candidate Account Creation.
