2 Tips To Manage Year-End HR Tasks

This is the last week of work for many departments as they finish up to take time off for holidays. As such, it’s common for professionals of all types to feel overwhelmed by mounting tasks, projects and deadlines.

HR is especially affected by this year-end rush, and at times it might seem impossible to get ahead of everything. However, with the right strategies, you can manage this hectic time while setting your team up for success in the new year.

Forbes polled their HumanResource Council to find tips on how to manage this time of year and two responses stood out to us as being especially helpful.

Leave room for change

“Include time in your plan to change the plan. HR often has to manage unexpected tasks that must be addressed immediately. Carefully thought-out plans have to be adjusted and reprioritized at a moment’s notice. Creating the time and space each day to review and reprioritize helps keep you on track. Make sure to schedule those adjusted activities immediately so they don’t get lost in the shuffle.” – Meg BattleRabin Martin

Don’t get too far ahead of yourself

“An upcoming new year can be exciting, but the current year still needs closure. HR should shift their focus to the “now” before planning too far ahead into the new year. Keeping a checklist of the “now” HR duties, along with associated deadlines, will prevent your department from deviating too far from end-of-year responsibilities.” – Tiffany JensenPure Grips

By remaining flexible yet focused you can make an impact in your department as you close out your year-end tasks and start fresh in the new year.

Wishing you and yours a Happy Holiday and Wonderful Wishes for a Happy and Healthy New Year!
